MEDIA RELEASE

29th May 2024

We welcome this momentous apology from the Chief Constable and recognition of the recent and historic injustices, discrimination and harm caused by the police.

Our members, police officers and police staff, have suffered and continue to experience discrimination being themselves while working for the police.

We hope this apology acts as a fresh start and the beginning of a healing process in which trust and confidence can be improved.

There remain challenges for the LGBTQI+ community and for serving LGBTQI+ officers and staff. We will continue to work with Police Scotland and all the Scottish forces we represent to strive for greater LGBTQI+ support and inclusion in policing.
